The Wedgeport Wind Farm Project is being developed in partnership with Sipekne’katik First Nation, Elemental Energy, and Stevens Wind. The project is strategically located on a windy peninsula near Wedgeport in the Municipality of the District of Argyle. This project will bring significant local investment, jobs, and clean electricity to the Province of Nova Scotia.

 

Environmental Assessment

On May 4th, 2023 the Wedgeport Wind Farm Project environmental assessment was approved by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change. The East Strathmore Solar Project is strategically located on Least Conflict Lands within Wheatland County. Lands identified as lease conflict represent areas of low ecology, agriculture, culture and scenic values.

The Awasis Solar Project is a partnership between Elemental and Cowessess First Nation (CFN), and is located east of Regina, Saskatchewan. CFN is a renewable energy leader in Saskatchewan, having built an 800kW wind turbine, a 500kW solar array, and 400kWh battery system. The project is located on reserve status land owned by CFN and brings direct benefits to CFN in terms of ownership experience, lease revenue, and equity returns. Together, Elemental and CFN have developed a comprehensive community capacity building plan to ensure local benefits are realized through knowledge sharing, employment, and training opportunities.

The Brooks Solar II project is located adjacent to the Brooks Solar project in Newell County, Alberta. Brooks Solar II builds on the success of Brooks Solar, Western Canada’s first utility-scale solar project.

Elemental is the owner and operator of Innisfail Solar, an innovative merchant solar project with a community benefit agreement that aligns with Alberta’s Community Generation Program. The project is located on land owned by the Town of Innisfail, providing the community with benefits from lease revenue, property tax, and a community benefits agreement.

We are minority equity partners in the Kawailoa Solar project – Hawaii’s largest solar project. Constructed throughout 2018 and 2019, Kawailoa Solar is co-located with the 69MW Kawailoa Wind project on Oahu’s North Shore.

We own and operate the Brooks Solar Project, the first utility-scale solar project in Western Canada. Brought online in 2017, Brooks Solar is an innovative project with a long-term corporate power purchase agreement.

Elemental owns a majority equity interest in a 20 MW portfolio of operating wind projects under the Nova Scotia COMFIT program. The projects were developed and are owned in partnership with Watts Wind Energy, a local community investment fund, and Katalyst Wind Energy.

Box Canyon Hydro is a 16 MW run of river hydro project located in southwest British Columbia. The project has a 40 year Electricity Purchase Agreement with BC Hydro and achieved commercial operation in January 2016. Box Canyon is in the Traditional Territory of the Squamish Nation, a valued partner on the project.

We are an equity partner in Kawailoa Wind Farm, an operational 69 MW wind farm on the majestic North Shore of Oahu, 35 miles from Honolulu, Hawaii’s largest city.
